Last night we saw 4 new dances. the lambada (sexy), the country two-step, the charleston (flapper/1920s) and the Bolero (slow). Lifts are ALLOWED!!! Almost everyone did a lift last night. The lifts were allowed as long as it was dance appropriate. Dancers doing the 2-step were: Chuck, Mark, and Louie. Melissa, Kelly, and Donny did the charleston. The Bolero dancers were: Natalie and Michael. Aaron, Joanna, and Mya did the Lambada.
Chuck as we found out grew up around a country bar. I'm thinking he was the bouncer at the door. Honestly doesn't look all that bad as a cowboy though. Didn't do a really good dance though. It was as if he was watching her and then following her instead of really dancing. The lifts were nice but I didn't really like her outfit. I saw saloon girl and not the one who tended or waitressed . I"m talking the ones that worked for Miss Kitty. Melissa's 1920 flapper outfit looked great. They started out as a black and white film and then went into normal color. Mark kinda reminded me of an old cartoon and I think Melissa has finally found her "character". The dance was great but the lift wasn't all the impressive. All he did was carry her to a chair. Judges loved it! Natalie looked like a goddess in her dress. I didn't see any lifts in there dance and it looked like she was really concentrating on the steps. It wasn't as good as last week. I wish I could do it to begin with. The judges were also so/so on it but said it was more difficult than her other dances so it did please the judges. Aaron didn't seem like he was into this dance. He wasn't sexy enough and it looked like he messed up the ending lift. Did a back flip in the beginning that was really good and cool. I like the color of Karina's dress. Judges also said he wasn't sexy enough and that he is trying to hard. Marks looked so/so as well. It looked like he knew some parts of the dance and but not all of them because I thought he looked at Lacey a lot. I did like the jump and lift they did and her sexy cowgirl outfit. It was better than Chucks to me. Kelly always looks good but she really pulls 1290s off really well. I liked Louie's make-up which he blamed on Kelly. They made the dance look so much fun. Like it was time to go out and learn to dance the charleston. I don't think she smiled enough but I liked the dance. Joanna and Derek went out and helped wash dogs at a local animal shelter and then sat outside and tried to give them away. it was really cute to do that. As for the dance, Derek went shirtless. It was naughty, sex on the dance floor. The judges LOVED it! so much for family show last night. I liked Donny and Kym's opening scene. I also wish my hips moved like Kym's. Very entertaining and fun to watch like always. They worked a spin lift into their dance. So footing issues but a good dance. I really like his vest. Michael and Anna had a very romantic opening and she also looked very nice in her dress with Michael's matching shirt. Michael still looks so stiff and I really don't think he moved a lot the judges also commented on that but said there has been improvement. Which is something that is supposed to happen. Louie went to visit Ty Murray this week to get into the cowboy spirit. Random female comment: Nice Butt Kid. Unfortunately, his dance didn't do anything for me or the judges. He didn't watch Chelsie, like some watch their partners, but you could tell he was thinking about everything and he didn't do a lot of dancing on his part. Chelsie did most of the dancing. Sweet Home Alabama wasn't so sweet with them dancing to it. Mya of course got a sexy song. I would have loved to see her do the 2-step and really challenge herself. I think the slow/sexy songs are more of her comfort zone. Did she oil her legs up before hitting the dance floor? they were just so shiny. I liked her lift and the dance was very sexy, I'm not sure if I liked her dress. Len was the only one who hasn't been totally won over by her.
One of the problems, I think, was that even some of the professionals had never done some of these dances yet themselves.

I admire male dancers and their ability to do constant lifts throughout one dance routine, and to the females because that is a lot of trust you have to put into your partner. I guess that's why practice is stressed so much. It also takes a lot of patience and skill I would imagine. One of the many reasons I love dance is that professional dancers make it look so easy, and do-able. Job well done if they can make me believe that I can be thrown in the air, twirl while in the air, and land on both feet with a smile on my face.
